Can I Sell My Car Without Registration in Quebec?

If you lost your registration, you cannot sell your car in Quebec. Dealers and private buyers won’t accept it. However, some scrap yards / automotive recyclers may still take the vehicle at their discretion if you can show older documents that support ownership—such as an old or expired registration, an old insurance slip, or a repair invoice with your name and VIN. If you have no documents at all, your only option is to get a replacement registration from the SAAQ, which is simple to do online or in person.
